All three sit in the same recently renovated building on a tree-lined street set along the water, five minutes from Blijdorp metro. Each is a two-bedroom, 1.5-bathroom apartment with an open-plan kitchen, walk-in rain shower, separate guest toilet and washer/dryer. What separates them is size and outdoor space.
The largest of the three, and the only one with its own garden — a genuine outdoor room rather than a balcony. Both bedrooms have built-in wardrobes, with space for a full dining table alongside a separate seating area.
Comprehensively renovated, with a balcony off the second bedroom and access to a shared roof terrace looking across the city. There is a lift in the stairwell, so no stairs with luggage or shopping.
The most compact of the three, though still generous by Randstad standards. Balcony doors lead off the second bedroom, and the bathroom has a double sink and heated towel rail. Lift access throughout.
A Rotterdam listing on the open market is quoted excluding bills, excluding furnishing, and usually on a twelve-month minimum with an agency fee on signature. These are quoted the other way round.
Most furnished apartments marketed to arriving internationals are let on short-stay or holiday terms. They look convenient, and then you discover you cannot register at the address — which in the Netherlands means no BSN, no DigiD, no Dutch bank account and no health insurance policy in your own name.
These apartments are let on a legal residential rental contract (huurovereenkomst woonruimte), so registration in the BRP at Gemeente Rotterdam is possible from the start of the tenancy. For anyone arriving to work in the Netherlands rather than to visit, that is usually the most important question to ask a landlord — and it is worth asking before anything about the kitchen.
Bergsingel is one of Rotterdam Noord’s better addresses — tree-lined, set along the water, residential in a way the city centre is not. Bergpolder has an unusually good run of independent cafés, bakeries and restaurants, with Zwaanshals and Noordplein a short walk away for weekend markets. Vroesenpark and Diergaarde Blijdorp are both within walking distance.

The same three apartments serve four fairly different needs. Which one you are is mostly a question of who is paying and how firm your end date is.
Placing an employee in Rotterdam needs three things: a home that works from day one, a contract that ends when the assignment does, and paperwork a finance team will accept. Corporate accommodation through City Retreat is invoiced directly to the company, with the documentation required for BRP registration included, and the two-month minimum makes corporate rentals workable for short projects as well as full relocations. The private Rotterdam market asks for Dutch payslips, a gross income of three to four times the rent, and a twelve-month commitment — awkward requirements before your Dutch employment has even started. Expat rentals here need none of that: no Dutch income proof, no agency fee, and a residential contract supporting registration from day one. It is the reason expat housing of this kind works where a hotel or a holiday let does not, for anyone arriving to work rather than to visit.
Everything here is let monthly. Monthly rentals suit people who know roughly how long they need but not precisely — commit to two months, then continue month to month. Temporary accommodation is the same apartment used differently: a furnished base while you search for something permanent, ending when you find it rather than tying you to a lease you would have to break. At 84 to 92 m², with a separate guest toilet and 1.5 bathrooms in every apartment, these work as well for two colleagues sharing as for a couple. Two-bedroom apartments of this size are uncommon in the Randstad, and there is room for both people to work from home without sitting on top of each other.
Two months. We do not take weekend bookings, holiday lets or anything shorter — these are mid-term homes, not short-stay accommodation. Stays of four months or more receive a 10% discount on the monthly rate.
Yes. These apartments are let on a legal residential rental contract, so you can register in the BRP at Gemeente Rotterdam. That is what allows you to obtain a BSN, set up DigiD, open a Dutch bank account and take out health insurance. A lot of furnished accommodation in the Netherlands is let on short-stay terms where registration is not possible, so it is worth confirming with any landlord before you commit.
Yes. The monthly figure covers gas, electricity, water, high-speed internet, property taxes and full maintenance cover, alongside the furnished apartment itself. There is no separate service charge, no annual utilities settlement and no agency fee.
Yes. We work directly with HR and global mobility teams, invoicing the company rather than the employee and providing the documentation needed for BRP address registration. Corporate rentals run on the same terms as any other booking — two-month minimum, all-inclusive, flexible termination — and the three Bergsingel apartments can be booked individually or together for a project team.
Practically, none — it is the same apartment on the same contract. The distinction is how you use it. A monthly rental is for a stay of known length that may extend; temporary accommodation is a furnished base while you look for somewhere permanent. Both start at two months and continue monthly after that, so neither commits you to a fixed end date. What we do not offer is short-term rental in the holiday-let sense: no weekend bookings and nothing under two months.
One month’s rent, refundable at the end of the stay subject to the condition of the apartment. Nothing is payable at the point of enquiry, and cancellation is free up to 30 days before arrival.

Rotterdam is materially better value per square metre, and considerably easier to secure a home in at short notice. It is also well placed for a Randstad-wide role: The Hague is around 25 minutes by direct train, Amsterdam around 40, and Schiphol around 30, which makes it a workable base even when the office is elsewhere.
